Against the backdrop of the Arab Spring, THE DRESSMAKERS goes behind the Morocco of travel guides to present an intimate and absorbing portrait of a country in the process of refashioning and redefining itself. THE DRESSMAKERS follows young designer, Salima Abdel-Wahab, in her rural atelier as she races to finish her new line, 'Travel Chic.' Meanwhile, factories in Casablanca and Tangier churn out ready-to-wear jeans, t-shirts, and sundresses for export. Hardworking tailors craft caftans and djellabas for neighborhood clientele, preserving the traditional dress that remains hugely important throughout the country.
