Desc: The Dressmakers: Moroccan Clothes and Their Makers: Directed by Shara Lange. THE DRESSMAKERS explores contemporary Moroccan identity by interweaving the stories of traditional tailors and factory seamstresses with that of Tangier-based designer Salima Abdel-Wahab as she prepares her line for the Festimode fashion show in Casablanca. Against the backdrop of the Arab Spring, THE DRESSMAKERS goes behind the Morocco of travel guides to present an intimate and absorbing portrait of a country in the process of refashioning and redefining itself. THE DRESSMAKERS follows young designer, Salima Abdel-Wahab, in her rural atelier as she races to finish her new line, 'Travel Chic.' Meanwhile, factories in Casablanca and Tangier churn out ready-to-wear jeans, t-shirts, and sundresses for export. Hardworking tailors craft caftans and djellabas for neighborhood clientele, preserving the traditional dress that remains hugely important throughout the country.
